First and Safe are an independent training provider. Approved and accredited by an OFQUAL and SQA regulated Awarding Organisation. Our instructors maintain their own professional skills to ensure the best quality training is delivered,with regular training updates and assessments,.
We offer onsite training or training at a venue convenient to you, meaning we can deliver training at a time convenient to you. This can include evenings, night shifts and weekends. This puts you fully in control and can save costs on staffing, travel and overtime.
Our instructors have extensive experience working in the NHS, local authorities, the Scottish Prison Service and professional sport, with backgrounds and expertise in child and adult protection, mental health, first aid, health and safety an in delivering training to NHS, Police, Local Authority and other public and private sector organisations.
Our lead instructor is a qualified and practising mental health nurse within the NHS with over 20 years’ experience in patient care and team management. He is experienced in delivering first aid and treatment to individuals, working in front line child and adult protection services with vulnerable children and adults as well as providing expert advice and consultancy to NHS staff. With extensive multi-agency working and training experience, and post graduate qualifications in child welfare and protection, he brings real life experience to each and every training course or consultation provided.
With over 15 years' experience as a qualified first aider, he has provided training to NHS staff in basic life support, the safe management of violence and aggression, drug and alcohol awareness and risk assessment. Out with the NHS he has trained adults and children in First Aid, Basic life support and the use of AED’s, self-defence and performing arts!
All of our instructors are members of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups scheme with Disclosure Scotland (DBS equivalent in England) and fully trained in First Aid, Child and Adult Protection, and have ongoing professional development and training.
